I just wanted to thank all the band members who came on tour this year, definitely the best behaved band I’ve ever toured with. The standard of playing at all four concerts was out of this world and our soloists were all exceptional. I received so many lovely comments after each concert, our audiences were just so impressed with what they heard. I also want to thank the tutors, Lin, Helen, Mike and Will as well as Sharon our tour nurse without whom the tour would simply not happen. Behind the scenes there is so much planning that goes into a tour like this, and that was handled by Ruth and Sam – many thanks to both for all their hard work. Phil will be putting a tour DVD together, so thanks (in advance) to him for doing that.
September sees the start of a new era for SWSCB and I wish you all well under the leadership of Neil Franks.
Finally, I hope to see as many of you as possible at my leaving party on the 10th September. Keep the date free.
We are compiling a DVD using photos and videos contributed by band members (and tutors) who were on the 2016 tour to Austria.
If you would like to contribute photos and/or video (as much as possible please), then please email firstname.lastname@example.org for instructions on how to upload them.
Contributions by the end of August would be great please.

- Rehearsal schedule
Junior Band: 8.45am – 10.15am Senior Band: 10.30am – 12.15pm
The SWSCB is made up of brass, woodwind, and percussion players with ages ranging from about 7 to 18. Between them the Senior and Junior Bands have a total membership of around 100, and new players are always welcome. There is no minimum playing experience required for entry to the Junior Band and prospective players are invited to attend rehearsals on a trial basis before deciding whether they would like to join. Players normally begin with the Junior Band and can progress to the Senior Band, depending on playing ability and availability of places. South West Surrey Concert Band is a Surrey Arts Ensemble.
