SWSCB is formed of woodwind, brass and percussion players aged 8 to 18. We rehearse on Saturday mornings during term-time and enjoy making some great music.
There are actually two bands, Junior and Senior, which between them have a membership of around 100. Players normally begin with the Junior Band and can join the Senior Band based on playing ability and the availability of places. New players are always welcome. There is no minimum playing experience required for entry to the Junior Band and prospective members are invited to attend rehearsals on a trial basis before deciding whether they would like to join. There is always lots of support and encouragement available from an excellent team of tutors and more experienced band members.
What Goes On
SWSCB is about making music and we work hard but have fun along the way. We usually play at least one concert each term and there are opportunities to go on international tour.
You may end up attending rehearsal in your PJs or playing concerts at the seaside or local fetes, the aim is to enjoy what we do.
This is the Junior Band who usually play each year at Queen Eleanor's School fete.
